The Equinox Challenge will test Scouts' map reading skills as they work their way around the forest to collect points whilst a hunter force of Explorer Scouts catch teams and steal their points!
This means that navigational skill alone is not enough to win: teams will need to be strategic and operate with stealth whilst in the forest... which isn't as easy as it sounds!
Troops can enter Scout teams of between four and seven Scouts who must be aged between 10½ and 14½ on the day of the Challenge. Each team will be given a map showing the location various posts (worth a differing amount of points depending on their location) and will need to visit as many posts as possible within the four hours allocated. The winning team is quite simply the team with the most points.
The hunter force of Explorer Scouts' sole role is to disrupt the progress of the Scouts and then deduct points from them? If caught, the team will lose the points from the last post visited.
